Who we are
Oberlin Scientific Corporation was founded in 1983 and is located in Oberlin,
Ohio. Our core professional group originated from Gilford Instrument Laboratories
(later Ciba-Corning Diagnostics) also located in Oberlin. Gilford designed
and manufactured spectrophotometrically based instruments for diagnostic medicine
and research.
OSC initially designed and produced high resolution imaging densitometers
for electrophoretic applications such as Western Blot analysis and DNA sequencing.
Over the years we gradually redirected our expertise from hardware development
to software development. Today we exclusively design, develop and deploy software
solutions in a variety of areas.
What we do
Our core business is focused on the development of highly specialized
analytical software for use in clinics, hospitals, and research laboratories
and is in use worldwide. All of our analytical software is custom designed
for other companies on a contractual basis. Some applications currently in
use for qualitative and/or quantitative analysis of electrophoretic separations
include:
Hemoglobins
Isoenzymes
DNA sequencing
Western Blots
Lipoproteins (including Cholesterol, Alkaline Phosphatase and other Lipo-Fractions)
Other OSC applications are designed for fluorometric assays.

OSC's consumer product group is developing non-analytical applications
for broad consumer markets. These products are intended to be used by individuals
or businesses as revenue-producing vehicles, in advertising or simply for
personal use.
They include:
A quick simple viewer for examining and manipulating images, graphics and
html documents.
A system to organize, categorize and deploy documents (typically for CD
or DVD).
A system to create custom maps (municipalities, road, rivers, etc.) for
every county in the United States.
Some of these products will be released soon and available from this site.
As part of development and quality control, our consumer product group has
tested these systems with a myriad of content, usually for deployment on CD.
Some of these have broad enough appeal that we are offering them to the general
